WHS Eagles Make a Difference with The Hunger Project

Saturday, December 2, over 40 students and teachers packaged 3000 meals at WHS. The meals consist of lentils, rice, Himalayan salt, and dried veggies. Eliza-Mely Martinez and Krisztina Buzas, with the guidance of Mr. John Sand, organized the effort for the 4th Hunger Project. The meals will be distributed to local food pantries, soup kitchens, and churches.

John Elliott, Retired News Personality, Visits WHS

Posted 11-16-18
Radio news legend and Wethersfield High alum John Elliott visited the high school this morning. Mr. Elliott concluded an accomplished 42-year career in radio in July.
Upon his retirement, his chair was auctioned off for charity. Proceeds from the auction benefited Connecticut ACLU. The chair itself will now be on display at Wethersfield High school in our Blue Eagle News studio.
During his visit, Mr. Elliott announced the creation of the John Elliott scholarship through Dollars for Scholars. This scholarship will provide support to a graduating senior pursuing a career in communications. In addition, Mr. Elliott presented a donation to WHS career/tech ed teacher Sue Coco to be used for her program.
We greatly appreciate Mr. Elliott’s generosity and say thank you for supporting our students. Thanks to Mark Christopher from WTIC-FM who made the chair available to the high school, Phil Pasternak from Wingsite of Wethersfield who designed and built the display case, Brian Ambrose, who provided photography, Corrine Nocida, who was instrumental in planning the event, Suzanne Curtin who assisted with communication, and the administration, staff, and students of Wethersfield High School.
