The Art and Literary Club is a place for anyone with any art style to come, hang out, draw and have some extra art or Literary time in school. We encourage all students to come try out the Art & Literary Club and make new friends!

Our club deals with all things bicycle. All styles, all appropriate perspectives. We fix, we ride, we decorate, sometimes we donate, we support each other, and we have good times. During good weather we'll be going out for rides. In poor weather we learn to fix bicycles. Mountain bikes, road bikes, cyclocross, cruisers, touring, BMX, vintage, new, old... If you like bicycles or cycling this is the club for you. Our club wants to do outreach to the greater school community. Other teachers and staff are welcome as well as students. No bike? Not a problem. We'll work on that. Want to fix up a bike for charity as part of your community service? Cool! You need a helmet and a signed permission slip on file. The art and science of bicycle culture come together in the bike club, where we are always "...keeping it wheel!"

Brothers and Sisters United, BSU, of Wethersfield High School is committed to intellectual, cultural, social and ethnic diversity. The BSU's focus is to build awareness, education, and a new level of consciousness about being a person of color in today’s society.  We aim to teach others about diversity and show that through engaging in activities focused on acceptance and tolerance, we will get a better understanding of others while learning about ourselves.

DECA is a co-curricular marketing organization for students who have interests in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. It helps students develop career skills and competence, build self-esteem, experience leadership and practice community service. The Wethersfield DECA has active members that participate in and plan many events. Some the group’s activities include organizing and marketing the Thanksgiving food drive, attending leadership conferences, marketing the fall play, spring musical, and the Wethersfield Farmer’s Market and attending the DECA Connecticut State Competitive Events Conference. DECA is open to marketing and business students.

WHS Drama Club 

The environmental club is a student-led group dedicated to education and civic engagement surrounding environmental issues. Students participate in service projects, local community clean ups, and educating others on the importance of sustainability, recycling, renewable energy, and more through bulletin boards throughout the school. 

This is a club for students interested in working in the field of education or working with youth.  This club is an active organization that partners with district schools and community members to volunteer in classrooms as well as youth programs and community-wide events to build partnerships, practice lesson planning and teaching, inspire creativity and love of learning, and investigate college pathways to the teaching profession. 

The Geography Club/Team focuses on preparing its members to compete on a team representing Wethersfield High School in the state high school Geography Challenge.  Membership is open to all grades and team members are chosen from the club membership.  In preparation, members will participate in various geography challenges once a month during meetings.  

The WHS GSA is a student led club concentrating on the interests of our LGBTQ+ students and their allies.  Our club is a place for acceptance and diversity while focusing on social justice issues.  In addition, the GSA is a safe space for students to express themselves.  Fundraising efforts focus around attending True Colors annual conference.   

The Hiking Club was founded out of inspiration of the 2020 lockdown from the Coronavirus pandemic. Many students were not spending as much time as they should outdoors and it was imperative for the joy of hiking to not be lost on this generation. Our Club is focused on exposing students to breathtaking views and trails around the state while creating a fun, cohesive environment among students and faculty. Being outdoors and the act of hiking specifically have been scientifically proven to offer numerous physical, cognitive and emotional benefits, while also providing spiritual benefits and the soul fulfilling sensation of a walk in the woods. The opportunities that our Club provides for students enhances their lives during high school by providing a de-stressing form of exercise, knowledge about trail etiquette, exposure to parks and trails around the state and lifelong memories.

The Leonardo Da Vinci Chapter of the Italian National Honor Society was formed in 1994. We are an affiliate of the National Italian Honor Society, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Italian. The society recognizes exceptional students of Italian studies with a keen interest in Italian culture. In order to become eligible for INHS, members are required to maintain a rigorous academic record in Italian as well as solid academic standing in all their high school courses. In addition, members are expected to complete 10 hours of community service each school year. The Italian National Honor Society is a service organization promoting Italian language and culture. Proceeds from fundraising activities each year are used toward charities and scholarships awarded to seniors of outstanding academic standing and service to the honor society. 

The JETS Engineering Design team competes in the Source America Design challenge. The team has designed and built devices to help disabled persons in the workplace. The team selects a project, designs, builds and then tests the project. Students are mentored by volunteer engineers.

In this club, we will discuss both how to read and write the news, and have a little fun along the way. Come visit Room 336 to meet with a group of like-minded writers wanting to make a difference!

Students learn to be leaders and participate in civic activities that help our community. 

The Wethersfield High School Math Team is a member of the Capital Area Mathematics League (CAML) which comprises 24 schools in the Greater Hartford area. Monthly competitions, including both individual and team events in categories ranging from arithmetic to trigonometry, are held at local schools beginning in October. The team is open to all students. 

The Media Club will explore all forms of media, from Movies & Novels to Comics and Series. The purpose of the WHS Media Club is to  encourage critical thinking in regards to the media and bring people together to challenge each other's opinions. We will explore various themes and types of media as decided by our club members.  Afterwards we will meet, discuss, debate, and socialize! In between deciding on media and discussing or debating, we can share passions through presentations about favorite books, series, or characters, or do general discussion. 

Students in the Model United Nations program represent countries, articulate diverse opinions on controversial issues, forge resolutions, engage in vigorous debate, and resolve conflicts. They hone research and debate skills and tackle international issues such as economic globalization and military conflicts. Model UN is an interactive program that gives students an opportunity to meet with UN diplomats and take part in a unique educational experience that prepares them for roles in a globalizing society.

The purpose of the Wethersfield High School National Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of Wethersfield High School.

On a national level, this society was established in 1921; the National Honor Society is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Location:  Wethersfield Police Department Community Room  -  This club meets bi-weekly on the first and third Thursday of the month.  Times vary.  Please see Officer Knapp for details.

The Wethersfield Police Cadet's is a community oriented program under the direction of the Wethersfield Police Department.  This program encourages leadership, volunteerism, academic excellence, and conflict resolution skills.  This program is for students aged 14-21 who have an interest in law enforcement.  Cadet's receive training in felony motor vehicle stops, domestic disturbances, traffic direction, emotionally disturbed persons, DWI enforcement, investigations, suspicious persons, and building searches just to name a few.  

The Cadet's assist the Wethersfield Police Department at civic events at event's like fairs, parades, etc.  Cadet's are also given the opportunity to attend the Cadet Police Academy which is held for a week during the summer.  The training is provided by law enforcement officer's from all over the New England/New York area.  Approximately 300 youths attend the academy.

Prayer Group is a student led group that meets weekly for prayer and devotions. The group meets on Tuesdays at 7:10 a.m. and begins with a short devotional message from a student leader. They then share prayer concerns and move directly to prayer. The group is open to all students of any faith who want to pray for the concerns and issues that affect the school, community, state, nation or world. Come check us out! 

The Robotics club strives to compete in local robotic competitions. The team works to design and build robots, some of which require coding. The club has built underwater robots for the SeaPerch competition. The club also has built robots for the VEX EDR competition.

The Isabel Allende Chapter of the Spanish National Honor Society was formed in 1995. We are an affiliate of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Membership in the SNHS is based on academic excellence and interest in the study of the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures. Members are currently in an honors Spanish class and in addition to a high point grade average in Spanish, they must have a solid academic foundation in all their classes.

Students are elected to student council by their peers.

The student council at Wethersfield High School voices the needs, wants and concerns of the student body to the administration. Student Council is a student-based civic organization designed to help promote school spirit and leadership among students. To be a member in student council is an honor. Student Council members are the future leaders in the community, government, or business. Students who participate in student council shall maintain a high standard of personal conduct. Students shall also demonstrate leadership qualities by serving as good examples of behavior through their words and actions. All Council members are expected to participate in approved activities, which serve to enhance the quality of the school environment. Students raise funds for school wide projects. They assist the community when they are in need of aid. Being a member of Student Council helps our students become responsible and active members of the community.

Teenage Republicans is a group that attempts to help students who are interested in politics to have a place to be involved. The group is student run and organized. They do work with the local chapter of the Republican Party. They volunteer at Republican or town wide community events. They often give time to the campaigns of local republican candidates and learn the ins and outs of the election process first hand. They help organize political events at WHS particularly during the election years. The group is open to all WHS students who are interested. 

The yearbook club is an organization developed to create and design the yearbook. It requires a great deal of time. Students help to take pictures at school, and then organize them into yearbook pages. They help to create the layout of the yearbook, create collages, and develop the overall theme. In September we meet once a week after school and after that students are encouraged to work on the book during their study halls and after school or whenever they have free time. 

The WHS Young Democrats. The purpose of this club is to educate the members about the political process and involve the members in campaigns for local, state and national offices. Members have the opportunity to meet and speak with local and state leaders. The members also run several charitable activities often in conjunction with the Young Republicans. 

The Youth  Civics Network is a student run organization.  

Goals are as follows:

• Help encourage youth civic engagement throughout WHS

• Help create a space where people can express civic opportunities outside of civic classes. 

• Create a good representation for a YCN chapter by going above and beyond for WHS. 

• Reach goals or ideas some students may have in mind. 

• Make civics interesting and engaging for students instead of a "forced" subject. 

Zen Club is a welcoming space for everyone to learn and practice yoga, meditation, and de-stressing techniques. Clear your mind, improve mind-body connection and find your balance. The club meets every Wednesday in Room 220 right after school.

Bring a towel or yoga mat.
