Helpful Information
Children eligible to enter Kindergarten in August 2026 must reach their fifth birthday on or before September 1, 2026, per CT state law.
Children attending the Wethersfield Early Intervention Preschool Program at Webb do not need to register as our system will automatically roll the student into kindergarten at their home school. However, an updated Health Assessment Form is required.
If you plan to withhold your child from kindergarten for the school year, CT State Law 98-243 requires that you appear at the elementary school and sign a document indicating that your child will be held out for the year.
Parents/caregivers desiring early admittance for a child turning five years of age between September 2 and January 1 must submit a written request to the building principal by May 1, 2026, and attend a screening process conducted by a certified staff member, which includes academic and social-emotional assessments. WPS staff will contact families for a screening appointment. Children are only screened once. The principal will provide the parent/caregiver with a written notice of the decision. Waivers are infrequently granted as the child must meet or exceed fall Kindergarten benchmarks.
