Welcome to the WPS K-6 Digital Resource Library for parents and families! You will find digital learning tools organized by category. Some resources are free and available without a subscription while others require a username and password.

Literacy

Leveled Resources for Grades K-6

Flocabulary is a web-based learning program for all grades and subjects that uses educational hip-hop music and standards-based videos, instructional activities and formative assessments to develop core literacy skills and supplement instruction across the curriculum. 
Resources for Grades K-6
Teachers and students can search Destiny, the online library catalog, from home or school. Teachers can view and search the catalog without logging in. Logging-in allows a user to put books on hold,  view the books on hold or checked out, and create book lists.

PebbleGo databases make learning and improving reading and research skills fun, building on children’s interest. PebbleGo offers four databases: PebbleGo Animals and PebbleGo Science, PebbleGo Biographies and PebbleGo Social Studies

Math

Resources for Grades ?-6
ThinkCentral Go Math is the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) Web site that allows you to access digital materials associated with Wethersfield’s math program; Go Math. Materials include teacher guides, student eBooks, assessments, and reports.

Freckle’s Differentiation Platform lets teachers differentiate both what and how students learn. This means that students are engaged at their academic level, on topics that interest them, while also learning in the way that’s best for them.

Science

Resources for Grades K-6
The National Geographic Education Resource Library offers high-quality, standards-based, educational resources and activities, including free maps, lesson plans, imagery, interactives, and reference materials.
Resources for Grades 3-6
Covering the outer reaches of space to the tiniest microbes in our bodies, Science Friday is the source for entertaining and educational stories about science, technology, and other cool stuff.
Resources for Grades K-6
The Smithsonian Science Education Center provides interactive digital resources for the teaching and learning of K-12 science.

Social Studies

Resources for Grades 3, 5, 8 The goal of Teach It is to help Connecticut’s teachers bring Connecticut history into the classroom through a series of inquiry-based activities that reinforce the principles found in the new social studies frameworks. In these pages you will find activities that link local events to national events so students can understand our state’s contributions that shaped our community, history, and heritage.

Where I Live: Connecticut is a social studies resource for third grade created by Connecticut Explored, the nonprofit magazine of Connecticut history, in collaboration with curriculum specialists and teachers.
Teacher Resources for Grades 4 & 6
Based on proven teaching strategies and practices, TCI brings learning alive and achieve consistent, positive classroom results. TCI’s curriculum has been specially curated to meet state standards, create engagements in lessons and help students better understand the content through hands-on and experiential exercises.

Cross-Disciplinary Resources

Resources for Grades 4-12 
BrainPOP engages students through animated movies, learning games, interactive quizzes, primary source activities, concept mapping, and more. BrainPOP covers topics within Science, Math, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Music, Health, Reading, and Writing. The content is carefully mapped to the Common Core and  aligned to academic standards.

Resources for Grades 2-6
Google Classroom is a free web service, developed by Google for schools, that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments in a paperless way. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.

Resources for Grades K-6
The district now has a beginning collection of eBooks and audiobooks that can be downloaded by teachers and students. This resource also provides access to the Wethersfield Public Library’s e-collection as well. This collection contains many of the Nutmeg books.
Resources for Grade 2
TypingTraining.Com is a web-based service providing online typing training and testing. Because it is web-based no software installation is needed. All that is needed are computers or mobile devices with internet access. TypingTraining.com can be customized to meet the unique needs of students at all ages and levels of skill. It also has a number of features for students with special needs. 
Resources Grades K-6
World Book Online provides access to multiple levels of resources including: World Book Kids (easiest to read), World Book Student (middle school level), or World Book Advanced (high school level).
