Trailblazers

Trailblazers is a program we launched last year here at Wethersfield High School to support students in need of furthering their social skills development. This program consists of four evening sessions throughout the school year for parents and their students. Topics include: transition, communication and overall academic success. Since we feel that these topics impact students both at home and at school, parental participation is essential.

Each session is approximately 90 minutes and would include school psychologist, Pam Harrison and school counselors, Sara Coffey and Judy Rodd. Also in attendance will be upperclassmen who have faced similar transitional needs. Our framework consists of a joint presentation with students and parents, followed by two concurring groups. A parent group facilitated by the school counselors will meet at the same time the school psychologist leads the student social skills group on the same topic.
