iPad Troubleshooting

1. Incorrect time
Tap the Apple Apps Folder.
Open the Settings app.
On the left, scroll down and select select Privacy.
On the right, select Location Services and then turn on Location Services via the toggle switch.
The location will switch to the east coast automatically and set the time appropriately.
Once the time has been set you can toggle Location Services off again and exit the Settings app.
2. iPad battery losing charge or not charging fully/quickly
Use only the power adapter and cable provided by the district.
The power adapter needs to be at least 10W, or 12W to charge the iPad. Nothing lower or unmarked will do.

Some power cables we provided might be excessively long and of those a fraction do not work well for charging. We can swap it out for another.

3. Other battery tips
Tap the Apple Apps Folder.
Open the Settings app.
In the left menu:
Select select Bluetooth. Using the toggle switch turn it off.
Scroll down and select General. On the right, select Background App Refresh. Using the toggle switch turn it off.
Scroll down and select Display & Brightness.
Turning Appearance to Automatic will darken the theme and conserve energy.
Using the slider, adjust the brightness. Lowering the brightness even a little will help lessen battery consumption. Feel free to crank it up higher when using the iPad while plugged in.
Make sure Auto-Lock is set to anything other than Never. Setting it to 2 Minutes is preferable and should be the default.
Scroll down and select Battery. Here you can see which apps are being used at which times, for how long, and battery usage for each app. When you are not using them, quit apps that use too much energy,
4. Quitting troublesome apps/ energy hogging apps
Press the Home button twice, very fast.

You will see a card-view showing snapshots of what each open app is doing.
Swipe up on each card to quit that app.
Press the Home button a single time to exit this mode.
5. Restart/ reboot the iPad

Pressing the Sleep/Wake button once will either turn the iPad display off or on depending on its current state. It does not turn the device off.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for at least 5 seconds.
The screen will change and you can slide the slider control to the right to actually power off the device.
Once the iPad is off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again again for about five seconds or just plug the iPad into power.
You have turned it back on successfully when you see the Apple Logo appear.
6. (Trouble) Getting on Wi-Fi
Tap the Apple Apps Folder.
Open the Settings app.
In the left menu select Wi-Fi
On the right:
To join a network:
Select the desired Wi-Fi network, and enter in the network password.
If the iPad is not seeing the desired network:
Toggle Wi-Fi on and off via the switch. Leave it off for a few seconds and then turn it back on.
Physically move closer to the source of the Wi-Fi network.
If the iPad is connecting to an undesired network:
Tap the lowercase " i " next to the network name.
Toggle Auto-Join off.
If the option to Forget Network is there, tap that.
You can change the Ask to Join Networks option to Off if you are getting too many requests to join nearby networks.

8. iPad not acting right/ apps are misbehaving/ needs to be reset
Plug the iPad into power. (if possible start this process at the end of the day when you can leave the iPad for a while)
Tap the Apple Apps Folder.
Open the Settings app.
In the left menu select General.
On the right, scroll all the way down and select Reset.
Select Erase All Content and Settings.
Tap on the Erase button twice.
The Apple logo will appear with a progress bar below it. That progress bar will complete a couple times after a few minutes.
You may need to press the Home button to wake up the iPad.
An all-white screen will come up displaying Hello in many languages. Press the Home button.
Select English for the language and then select United States for Region. you may have to scroll very far down if it is not the first available selection.
Tap Set Up Manually, select your Wi-Fi network, and enter in your network password.
When the Remote Management screen come up, select Next.
After a few minutes, the final configuration process finishes.
Tap Enable Location Services, Continue, and Get Started.
You will be back at the Home Screen and all the appropriate apps will begin to download their latest versions fresh. It may take some time for everything to finish downloading.
9. Google account settings need to be removed/reset
To remove the account
Open the Google Chrome app.
On the right, tap on the three dots.
Select Settings.
Tap on your account
Tap the Sign Out and Clear Data from this Device button, twice. Your Google account has now been removed Chrome.
To (re)add the account
Tap the three dots.
Enter your email address and password.
Tap Yes, I'm In.
Tap Accept and sign in.
Tap Done.
10. Websites not opening or behaving properly
First, try quitting Safari. See #4 above for help with quitting apps.
Second, sometime websites and online services themselves have issues. It might not be you or your device. Try the site from another device
Tap the Apple Apps Folder.
Open the Settings app.
In the left menu, scroll down and select Safari.
On the right, scroll down and tap Clear History and Website Data.
Tap Clear.
Once everything is cleared you can exit the Settings app and try again.
10c. Websites not opening or behaving properly (Cox internet)
We have reports of issues with YouTube/Meet/Gmail/etc. and Cox's parental control features.
Try changing or turning off these features first and then test YouTube/Meet/Gmail/etc.
